Peewee Major, 2016-2017, Trav (Essex Minor Hockey)

The International Silver Stick tournament is a highly regarded one and has been around for 50 plus years.  Teams must qualify by either winning their Regional qualifier or by being invited.   The Pee Wee Majors set their sights on a Silver Stick Final win after winning their Regional qualifier in Watford over the holiday break.  The team had been to this tournament before via invitation but the quarter finals were as far as they could make it.  They were looking to make this years final being held in Port Huron Michigan a tale with a different ending.

The Pee Wee Majors were victorious in their pursuit of becoming Silver Stick Champions this past weekend in Watford.  The path to get there was certainly not simple! Three out of four games were decided in overtime. The final game was played against a strong Woodstock team who handed us our only loss in game one in overtime. The game was tied after three periods and we went a full 20 minutes overtime.  However the game was decided less than seven minutes into double overtime and the Ravens were the winners!! It was certainly an exciting and nerve wracking weekend!  It was a great team ...

The Pee Wee Majors were victorious this past weekend winning the Amherstburg Elite 8 tournament.  The team went undefeated and beat out the London Jr Mustangs in the final. This is their second tournament win this season.  They were also the winner of the Essex Earlybird tournament in early September. Congratulations to the entire team and coaching staff!!! Keep working hard!!

The final two tryouts will be this weekend. Sunday's tryout will be an exhibition game against Riverside. If the date is listed next to your name you are scheduled to play. If your name is no longer on the list we thank you for coming to tryouts and wish you luck in your next endeavour!!
