Dear Members,
Both Southpoint Minor Hockey (SMHA) & Essex Minor Hockey (EMHA) Boards of Directors have agreed and signed a Letter of Intent to work collaboratively towards a Representative Partnership for the upcoming 2021-22 season. This will be replacing the current Shared Boundary Initiative (SBI) pilot program, which has expired and will not be extended by the OMHA. The plan is to move forward with a partnership much like Norfolk Minor Hockey and/or West Niagara Minor Hockey have recently completed.
The selected committee representing both SMHA & EMHA have made the commitment for developing a program for ALL players. The focus will not be just the representative player that we will be looking at, we have made the commitment that each week we will be reporting on Rep / Local League / Initiation program. In our discussion we as a committee and as board members are putting player development first. The plan is to update both SMHA & EMHA website weekly with updates for the membership to see the direction we are moving forward with.
We are currently working towards setting up a Town Hall Meeting, where the committee will be present our plan for the 2021-22 season, but before that we will be looking for input from membership on any questions the members have so these items can be addressed.
Please click here to submit a question to the Partnership Committee
The information reviewed through this question process will be utilized to develop a Membership survey on this topic. We anticipate the survey going out to the members at some point next week.
In closing, for everyone that has followed the current SBI, you will see that Erie Northshore Minor Hockey (ENMHA) is not listed here. The committee has had open communication with ENMHA and they are part of our committee meetings, unfortunately they have not been able to sign the Letter of Intent. The SMHA & EMHA Partnership Committee will continue to move forward with above direction, as it has been openly discussed that at any time in the process, ENMHA will be provided the opportunity to join and become part of this partnership. Looking forward to reviewing membership questions SMHA & EMHA Partnership Committee
