Return To Hockey - EMHA Plan
EHMA would like to share part of return to hockey plan.  This plan is required to be submitted to the OMHA and OHF for approval before we can start the season.  The plan will be submitted to OMHA this week, and approvals are required before the 2020-2021 season can begin.

Below is our proposal based on the OHF return to hockey plan.

***EMHA cannot emphasize enough that these plans could change***

Any Question in regards to the EMHA plan please send them to

• Strict compliance regarding physical distancing and facility policies.

•The ability to offer programming is dependent upon ice availability and registration numbers.

•Due Essex Arena being closed, EMHA will be using the Harrow arena

• No Travel Hockey / No Tryouts
• Cohorts/bubbles will be restricted to 50 players. Coaches are excluded from this number.
• Strict compliance regarding physical distancing and facility policies
• Players to be placed with like skilled groups based on where they played last year (Tier1, Tier2)
• Teams will be comprised of 9 skaters and 1 goalie

• Players can only be registered with one team within the OHF. This applies to AAA players as well.  This also means that there will be no AP positions for higher divisions or Jr. hockey.
• The ability to offer programming is dependent upon ice availability and registration numbers.
•We will have limited ice and going thru new protocols for going on the ice we are doing a staggered start.

o   Tier 1- U8 thru U15 starts the week of Sept 14th

o   Tier 2 - U8 thru U15 starts the week of Sept 28th

o   Remaining groups will start the week of October 26th

• For Tier 1 (players registered in 2019/20 category - AAA, AA, A, AE) the following will apply:
o Team formation: Divided by major and minor ages separate and group players based on their category of play in 2019/20.
o Play in cohort/bubble with Erie North Shore and Southpoint ***Detail on this are still be finalized and will be based on registration***

***Formation of teams in either Tier 1 or Tier 2 will be at the discretion of EMHA and in consultation with the coaches. Team formation is highly dependent upon registration numbers.***

Tier 1: Prep Season September 14th to October 25th – 6 weeks
Tier 1 will be comprised of players who played in the travel division during the 2019/2020 season. Each team will have 2 skates per week and with the potential of a 3rd skate per week based on ice availability. Prep season will consist of skill development with EMHA coaches, Practices sessions with 490 Fitness and a mix of 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 hockey. We have also planned to partner with Erie North Shore and Southpoint minor hockey associations to create a cross association bubble.  This is not “travel” and is only being done for the continuity of skill development at this level. Tier 1 will have an additional cost above and beyond the base registration which all tiers are required to pay.

Tier 2: Prep Season September 28th to October 25th – 4 weeks
Tier 2 will be comprised of players who played in the house league divisions in 2019/2020. Each team will have 2 skates per week. Prep season will consist of skill development with EMHA coaches, Practices sessions with 490 Fitness and a mix of 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 hockey
